the golden eagle tree

When i was 11 I used to hang out with some kids from my street - we'd play football (soccer) on the footy pitch and next to it would be a spinney and a line of hedges with a big scary looking tree - we'd often climb it and muse how scary it looks especially at night....
So my sister and neighbour and myself sat down one summer and made up this story about this tree (remember we were 11/12 years old)..
The is a legend of a tree that a golden eagle lives in.... but this isn't like the native american golden eagle - a grand bird adorned with gold and emeralds flies over the houses at night searching for his love... girls were scared incase they was chosen because when they are you'd never see your family again... so by 7pm girls wouldn't venture out on the field for fear of being taken by the golden eagle...
One girl was curious - she was 13 or 14 yrs old with short bobbed red hair... she heard these rumours of not going on the field at night and wondered how a person would even fit in the tree? So one summer night she snuck out.... and stepped onto the field - it felt cool after the long hot day. Suddenly, the whole field shimmered green and appeared to look liquid like molten emeralds... She started to worry ... then out of the ground green tinged skeletons came crawling out grabbing at her ankles and nighty... dragging her down.....

I shall leave the story there because there is more to it and i want to manip the next scene soon for it
